Role

As a Technical Purchaser in our Technical Department, you will play a key role in sourcing technical materials and supplies, coordinating logistics, and handling administrative tasks.

Your responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, communicating with suppliers, and arranging transportation. You will also act as the essential link between our Technical Managers in the office, Corporate Engineers in the field, and the Captain and crew on board, ensuring that all goods and supplies are delivered to the ship according to purchase orders or service tickets.

Your main job is to quickly process orders from ships, received through the ticket system or email. You’ll ensure the supply chain runs smoothly, making sure every order is handled accurately.

Our relatively small team supports a large fleet of ships across Europe, so the ability to work under time pressure and think proactively should come naturally to you.

In your position as Technical Purchaser, you are part of a small team, led by a Purchase Manager, and supervised by the Technical Director. You also work in close collaboration with the Technical Managers and the Warehouse Manager.

Task & Responsiblities

  • Primary contact for purchase, orders, and logistic processes in collaboration with the Technical Managers and Technical Director.
  • Supervise and organize general maintenance activities, by means of a ticket system and automated procurement system (Business Central)
  • Organize logistics and transportation to and from the office to the ships.
  • Manage the coordination and oversight of maintenance software in use.
  • Request and review quotations and maintenance contracts from suppliers.
  • Request quotations for machinery, revisions, and materials.
  • Supervise pending/open orders tickets from the ticket system.
  • Oversee and control incoming invoices and current pricing.
  • Support annual training weeks (kick-off for the on-board staff)
  • Proactively place orders as needed.
  • Organize/schedule inspections of equipment, tools, safety equipment, etc.

Competences

  • Education or expertise in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
  • Familiarity with the (international) maritime industry or shipbuilding.
  • Experienced in Purchase, Logistics or Procurement. Ability to learn.
  • Strong proficiency in English and preferably Dutch and German.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, polite, and customer-focused.
  • Ability to work well in a team.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • Medium to higher vocational level
  • Specific Purchase or Logistics courses
  • Perfect Dutch and English
  • German is a plus
  • Word, Excel and Microsoft Dynamics
